2019 Denver Supercross | Dean Wilson Update

Dean Wilson has released an update on his condition following a hard crash at the 2019 Denver Supercross and luckily, the outcome is far better than many initially expected. The Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing rider went down during the 450 Main Event, was aided off of the track by the Alpinestars Medical crew, and then taken to a local hospital for a full evaluation. On Sunday we heard everything from shoulder damage to back injuries, but on Tuesday, Wilson explained what happened and what is hurt with an Instagram video that shows the full crash.
Wilson’s caption states that something caused the bike to nosedive after leaving a jump, which drove him into the ground. The crash did result in some damage to Wilson’s shoulder and contusions on his kidney, but MRI scans revealed that neither injury will require surgery. Unfortunately for Wilson, the damage means he will have to sit out the remaining two rounds of the 2019 Monster Energy Supercross Series, a frustrating deal as this was looking to be the first SX season he completed without injury in some time and that eleven top-ten finishes have him sixth in the championship standings. Luckily there are two bright spots in that Wilson will for sure retain a top-ten ranking in the final points (he has 223 points so far this season, which is thirty-one more than seventh-place ranked Joey Savatgy) and after some time off of the bike to recovery, he will be able to race the upcoming Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship for the Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing team (Husqvarna has confirmed that Wilson will be on the factory bike all summer alongside Jason Anderson and Zach Osborne).
