2019 MOTOCROSS OF NATIONS | COMPLETE COVERAGE
Team Switzerland has announced a line-up change less than two weeks ahead of the 2019 Motocross of Nations due to the broken hand that Arnaud Tonus suffered at the 2019 MXGP of China. The injury is not serious enough to need surgery but. will require more than just a few days time to properly heal. Since the sand track at Assen will be extremely challenging, the Swiss team has been forced to swap Tonus out of the Open class spot in favor of Cyrill Scheiwiller, a front-runner in the country’s national championship.
This is a setback for Switzerland, a team that many had picked as a possible podium contender thanks to MXGP pick Jeremy Seewer’s second-place rank in the Monster Energy FIM Motocross World Championship, a string of podium finishes and career-best rides that Tonus posted through the summer, and Valentin Guillod’s usual speed. Scheiwiller is an unknown to most outside of Switzerland, but he has the support of the Hostettler, the country’s Yamaha distributor and owner of gear brand IXS.
This is the latest change a team ahead of the MXON, as Team Great Britain recently confirmed that Adam Sterry and Nathan Watson will fill spots vacated by Max Anstie and Ben Watson, Team The Netherlands confirmed Calvin Vlaanderen as the MX2 pick, and Team France removed Tom Vialle for Maxime Renaux due to disputes with Red Bull.
