If it’s a motorcycle race, we’re into it. Last weekend marked the start of the 2019 World Enduro Super Series, an eight-round championship that features some of the toughest off-road motorcycles races in history like the Erzerbergrodeo, Red Bull Romaniacs, and the opening round, the 2019 Porto Extreme XL Lagares. The Porto event is known best for its wild run through the ancient city streets and waterfront of the Portuguese town (odds are you’ve seen the runs up staircases or on water sections that literally take place on the river), and the first race of the year made this another motorcycle championship we should all follow.
The three-day format of the Porto Extreme XL Lagares meant that riders had to be at their best for days at a time while enduring some of the hardest obstacles that one could possibly create. Some of the top off-road riders in the world will chase the World Enduro Super Series title, and after seeing what took place in Portugal, there will be plenty of shake-ups to the standings through the next few months. Sherco factory rider Mario Roman took the overall win in Porto, while other expected title contenders Graham Jarvis, Billy Bolt, Jonny Walker, Alfredo Gomez, and Taddy Blazusiak finished further back in the running order.
Red Bull is a major part of the World Enduro Super Series and will have excellent recap videos like the one below, plus other content from each round. Sit aside twenty-five minutes to watch this if you can, it’s well worth the time.
