2020 ANAHEIM ONE SUPERCROSS | COMPLETE COVERAGE

One thing we always like to take note of at every round of Monster Energy Supercross Series is the wide variety of gear and motorcycles used by riders. Companies provide top racers with a substantial amount of money and/or product in exchange for riders to showcase the goods under the stadium lights, and the battle for brand supremacy in the 250 and 450 class, all with hope the investment into race sponsorship will translate into public recognition and purchases.

We’ve gone through the Main Event results for the 250 and 450 classes, then tallied up the figures for a total breakdown. In the 450 class, riders are able to work out deals from different companies for a look that’s all their own (Barcia-Wilson-Anderson-Webb-Tomac-etc) while others will score a massive paycheck from one company that puts them in the brand from head to toe (Roczen, Cianciarulo, Hill). Team-wide deals are much more common in the 250 class, which allows teams to have a uniform look for all of their riders on the track. 

A few takeaways from the final tally…

– Alpinestars is again the boot brand of choice, as the Italian company had 21 of the 44 Main Event riders in their kicks. 

– FLY Racing continues to make their big push through the sport, with their company ranking near the top of the lists when it comes to helmets and gear.

– SCOTT and 100% ongoing battle for eyewear supremacy is closer than ever. At A1, 100% had two more riders in the Main Events, thanks in part to the recent switch at Rocky Mountain ATV-MC/WPS/KTM. 

– It’s a bit surprising to see how popular Husqvarna is in the 250 class. But there’s a reason for this: it’s the bike of choice for Gas Monkey/AJE, JMC Motorsports, Michael Leib, and Chris Howell. That’s six riders total, apart from lone factory rider Michael Mosiman.

– The 250 class is always the most unique because independent riders are more apt to get support from smaller companies, while the factory teams garner the big endorsement deals
