2020 ANAHEIM TWO SUPERCROSS | COMPLETE COVERAGE
Jett Lawrence’s last-lap crash in the 250 Main Event left the GEICO Honda rider with a broken collarbone and as a result, the teenager will miss upcoming rounds of the 2020 Monster Energy Supercross Series. Lawrence, a rookie in the 250 West Coast region, led all but two laps of the night’s feature race in Southern California and was on his way to a career-first win until issues late in the race. First was a small crash that he was able to get up from quick enough to retain the top spot, but the mistake allowed Dylan Ferrandis an opportunity to close in on the leader. The two were close on the white flag lap and Ferrandis made the key pass in a bowl turn between the two whoop sections, just two lanes from the finish line. Lawrence attempted to stay close with a quick run over the second set of whoops but lost his rhythm, dropped the front wheel, and endo’d into the next obstacle.
Lawrence was quickly tended to by the Alpinestars Mobile Medical Unit staff and was taken off the track on the medical cart. After an examination at the track, he was directed to a local hospital. Per word from the team Lawrence will miss a few weeks to let the injury heal, but with only three races (Glendale, Oakland, San Diego) left in the opening stint of the West Coast swing, it’s unlikely he will be back before the region goes on break.
