The track maps for the 2020 Monster Energy Supercross Series continue to come out! Just a day after we found a number of layouts for the upcoming season, the public relations staff at Daytona International Speedway announced the course for the 2020 Daytona Supercross. Designed by motocross icon Ricky Carmichael and meant to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the long-running race, the track will make great use of the iconic infield at the Florida superspeedway with a mix of terrain (bright clay, dark dirt, beach sand, and grass) and obstacles. This will be the biggest Supercross track at Daytona in years, as part of the start and a hairpin turn extends onto the car track’s pit lane, so lap times should be even longer.
When we were at the 2019 running of the race, we heard talk that the Daytona International Speedway promoters are going to push for riders and teams to get creative with retro-themed gear and graphics to celebrate the legacy of the event. Expect to hear more about that in the coming months, because we’re still about five months away from the gate drop.
