2020 ST. LOUIS SUPERCROSS | COMPLETE COVERAGE

A hard slam in the first timed qualifying session at the 2020 St. Louis Supercross sidelined Cameron McAdoo from the night’s race and on Sunday, the Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki rider explained that he suffered a collapsed lung as a result.

McAdoo made a small mistake when he entered the stadium-length rhythm section, went over the bars of his KX250, and was nailed in the shoulder by the bike when almost as soon as he landed on the ground. He quickly got to his feet and went to the side of the track, where the Alpinestars Mobile Medical staff quickly tended to him. After a quick check-over that showed McAdoo’s breathing and oxygen levels were normal, he was cleared to ride the second timed qualifying session. His attempt only lasted a lap, though, as he immediately pulled off and withdrew from the night’s race.

In an Instagram post, McAdoo explained that he went to a local hospital soon after and found out that his right lung was fully collapsed and his left lung was partially collapsed, which required a chest tube to be inserted. McAdoo said that he will have to spend some time at the hospital to get his lungs and breathing back to normal.

Due to the severity of the issue, it’s almost certain that McAdoo will miss part of the 2020 Monster Energy Supercross Series, as the West Coast region runs through the next four consecutive weekends and it’s unlikely he can get back to normal in time for round three this Saturday night.

I would like to thank everybody for reaching out yesterday, unfortunately I had a pretty simple little crash in practice, with my bike landing on me. I was able to get my oxygen levels back up to normal so I tried to ride last practice, but could tell something was not okay. I went straight back to the medics they then sent me to the hospital, and they immediately found that I had a fully collapsed right lung, and a partially collapsed left lung. I was put under right away for a chest tube, and further tests. I am currently in the hospital in St. Louis hoping to get out sometime tomorrow! I’ve been feeling better than ever on the bike, and can’t wait to heal up to get back out there! Much love 🙌🏻❤️
