2020 ST. LOUIS SUPERCROSS | COMPLETE COVERAGE
250 HEAT ONE
The first jump of the night looked to be Derek Drake’s, however, some late-braking led to a tip-over and gave the early lead to Michael Mosiman. Just a few seconds later, GEICO Honda’s Christian Craig rocketed by Mosiman and snagged the lead. Meanwhile, last weekend’s winner Justin Cooper sat outside the top-5 after receiving some contact in the first turn and was forced to make his way through the pack. As Cooper passed Luke Clout for the third-place position, Craig sat comfortably out front and won the heat with a 5-second led on Mosiman in second place.
250 HEAT TWO
Austin Forkner rocketed out of the gate with Mitchell Oldenburg right alongside. Mitchell took an inside line in the second corner and was able to make the pass on Forkner and grab the really lead. Just a few corners later, Forkner got around Oldenburg and began to put down some fast laps. Meanwhile, Dylan Ferrandis ran into some early issues that put him in ninth place at the end of lap one. A few positions behind the leaders, Jett Lawrence began making some passes inside of the top-5 when he collided with Koga in the air, resulting in both of them hitting the ground. With less than two minutes to go, Ferrandis made his way into fourth place while Forkner continued to lead out front. Jett Lawrence was able to make his way back into a transfer position, and Austin Forkner took the heat race win.
250 LCQ
Derek Drake managed to grab another great jump off the gate and hold the lead throughout the entirety of the first corner. As Drake already began to check out, Tanti sat behind in second and Mitchell Falk closed out the podium positions. The top four remained in the same positions, as Macler secured the final transfer position into the main and Derek Drake collected the win with a 12-second lead.
250 MAIN EVENT
The start and early lead of the 250cc Main Event went to Austin Forkner with Jett Lawrence behind. Meanwhile, Dylan Ferrandis and Michael Mosiman were down on the first rhythm lane. Ferrandis was slow to get up and then rode into the pits with a tweaked bike. As Forkner attempted to get away out front, last weekend’s winner Justin Cooper sat in fifth and began charging towards the front. The Rookie from Australia continued to sit in second place with his GEICO Honda teammate Christian Craig in third, but the two seemed to be in trouble as Justin Cooper had the fastest lap on the track and was closing. Just as it looked like Forkner was going to start pulling away, 16-year old Jett Lawrence closed within a second of the leader. At the same time, Justin Cooper made the pass for third on Craig. With four minutes to go, Lawrence made a mistake and Justin Cooper was able to catch and pass the youngster around the outside. Shortly after, GEICO Honda’s Christian Craig hit the ground hard and then Lawrence had to make a quick stop in the pits with some sort of minor mechanical issue. As the checkered flag flew, Austin Forkner grabbed the win and his first victory of 2020.
450 HEAT ONE
The first 450 start of the night was awarded to Vince Friese, yet again. Ken Roczen sat right behind him, and Cooper Webb followed. A lap later, Roczen showed Friese a front wheel and made the pass for the lead on the inside. Friese, Webb, Stewart, and Tomac all began to battle for the second place position, then Malcolm Stewart blitzed the whoops and passed by them all, into second. Eli Tomac followed Stewart and began to challenge for the position while Roczen sat comfortably in first place. After a few attempts, Tomac was finally able to complete the pass on Stewart. HRC Honda’s Ken Roczen held onto the lead and took home the heat race win.
450 HEAT TWO
Zach Osborne executed an almost perfect start, but as did Justin Bogle. Bogle managed to snag the early lead after the second corner, while Adam Cianciarulo sat just behind Osborne in third. Meanwhile, Justin Barcia didn’t have a great start and sat in ninth place at the end of lap one. While leading, Justin Bogle got a little sideways on an inside roller and lost control on the bike entering a rhythm section, resulting in him hitting the ground. Adam Cianciarulo immediately began closing on the new leader and was able to complete the pass on Osborne for the lead. Justin Brayton was sent walking back to the pits after a mechanical issue with the HRC Honda. Justin Barcia managed to make his way all the way up to third place after his rough start to the heat race. Monster Energy Kawasaki’s Adam Cianciarulo grabbed the heat race win, with Zach Osborne behind.
450 LCQ
Chad Reed got a solid jump and snagged the early lead with Justin Brayton behind him. A lap later, Brayton set up on the inside of Reed through the rhythm lane and secured the lead in the corner following. Behind the leaders, Winter began to feel pressure from Cunningham for third place, and Cunningham ended up securing the position. A lap later, Alex Ray closed in on Winter and made the pass for the last transfer position to the main event. Cunningham was able to continue making passes and get around Reed for second, while Justin Brayton grabbed the LCQ win.
450 MAIN EVENT
Rockstar Energy Husqvarna teammates Zach Osborne and Jason Anderson rocketed out of the gates, and Osborne secured the early lead. Ken Roczen managed to split the teammates and settle into second place. A lap down and both Justin Barcia and Adam Cianciarulo were able to enter the top-five. Ken Roczen set up Osborne perfectly and executed the pass for the lead. Shortly after, Justin Barcia and Adam Cianciarulo were able to get around Osborne as well. But, Osborne didn’t want to give up that easily, as he performed the same exact move AC used on him in the next corner to get back by. Back up front, HRC Honda’s Ken Roczen attempted to get away as Justin Barcia tried to close in on the leader. Further down in the field, Eli Tomac began picking off guys as he got around Malcolm Stewart and looked ahead at his teammate. Though, Adam Cianciarulo was able to finally get around Justin Brayton and into fifth place. And like that, Cianciarulo was set to have another jab at Osborne and fourth place. The 450 Rookie was able to get past Osborne just as his teammate passed Brayton. Eli Tomac attempted to get around Osborne, but Zacho shut him down. With a few minutes to go, Ken Roczen sat comfortably in the lead with an eight-second lead on Barcia in second. With one lap to go, Adam Cianciarulo went down and allowed Tomac, Osborne, and Stewart by. And he’s back, Ken Roczen took the main event win in dominating fashion!
