2021 ATLANTA THREE SUPERCROSS | COMPLETE COVERAGE

One more gate drop at the Speedway. The 2021 Monster Energy Supercross Series is ready to close out its time in the South with the 2021 Atlanta Three Supercross, the third race at the Atlanta Motor Speedway, and the fifteenth round of the tour. The first two races on the massive track were excellent, as they tightened the championship chase in both classes and gave riders a much-needed boost of momentum as we near the end of the season.

THE COMPETITION

Tuesday’s will go down as a defining moment for the 450 Class. Ken Roczen knew that a big result was needed to keep his hopes at the championship alive, and the Team Honda HRC rider did everything right to on his way to the win (excellent start, led every lap, almost an eight-second margin over second place). Roczen’s results was boosted up by Cooper Webb’s difficulties, as the Red Bull KTM rider was raced close and hard in the opening laps of the 450 Main Event, bumped into Justin Barcia’s back wheel during closing moments of the moto, and tipped over. Webb’s sixth place score allowed Roczen to cut the difference in the championship down to 13 points with three rounds to go. Can Roczen put in another flawless ride, or will Webb figure out the flow of the tricky track? This one isn’t over.

The 250 Class race was just as wild. Cameron McAdoo’s crash, red flag, on-site medical evaluation, ability to restart, and podium finish was the story of the small-bore class. If McAdoo didn’t line up, the outcome of the championship would have basically been decided, because Justin Cooper’s win put even more points on the rest of the field. Tonight will be the West Coast Region’s last full points-paying race; their final race is the East-West Showdown in Salt Lake City.
