Troy Lee Designs/Red Bull/GASGAS Factory Racing has confirmed that their entire three-rider roster will not be on track at the 2021 Budds Creek Motocross. Justin Barcia, Michael Mosiman, and Pierce Brown have suffered hard crashes and moderate injuries over the past few weeks and are currently unfit to line up for the ninth round of the 2021 Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship.
Justin Barcia and Michael Mosiman’s incidents during the summer break were unrelated, with Barcia in California and Mosiman in Florida; the two suffered similar injuries with concussions/general soreness and sat out the 2021 Unadilla Motocross. Both riders are hopeful to be back before the end of the season; Mosiman is expected to get back on the bike for practice sessions soon, while Barcia’s return may take a little longer.
Pierce Brown had two separates slams last weekend at Unadilla, and his get-off in 250 Moto Two resulted in a broken collarbone and concussion.
As unfortunate as this weekend’s absence will be for the TLD team, the 2021 season has been very successful. Justin Barcia won the opening round of the Supercross series in Houston and the overall at the Spring Creek Motocross, while Michael Mosiman and Pierce Brown scored podium finishes in Supercross and motocross (Brown at the Daytona Supercross, Mosiman at the Indianapolis Two and Three Supercross and the Spring Creek Motocross).
