2021 INDIANAPOLIS TWO SUPERCROSS | COMPLETE COVERAGE

Another day at the office. Timed Qualifying for the 2021 Indianapolis Two Supercross, round five of the 2021 Monster Energy Supercross Series just wrapped up, and it looks like we’re in for another close night in both classes.

250 EAST COAST REGION | QUALIFYING REPORT

Monster Energy/Star Racing/Yamaha’s Colt Nichols continues to control the 250 East Coast region. The incoming championship leader was the fastest rider in both sessions of Timed Qualifying and ended the afternoon with a 46.624 lap time.

Jett Lawrence had another eventful afternoon. The Team Honda HRC rider was quick (he had the best lap in Free Practice), and a 46.857 during the final session of Timed Qualifying put him second overall in the class. A crash moments later forced the second-year pro to the sidelines with a bloody nose, but he’ll be back for the night’s race.

Michael Mosiman has made steady improvements all season. The Troy Lee Designs/Red Bull/GASGAS Factory Racing rider was third overall in the group with a 47.038 time.

Christian Craig tried to keep to himself during the afternoon practices. The Monster Energy/Star Racing/Yamaha rider was usually the first onto the track, an attempt to focus only on his riding. A 47.088 lap put him fourth overall.

Jo Shimoda has been very solid this season. The Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki rider was just under a second off the leader’s practice pace. His 47.506 time was the fifth-fastest in the class.

450 CLASS | QUALIFYING REPORT

It was a mellow day at Indy Two and only eight riders were within a second of each other on the lap sheets.

Ken Roczen comes into this race with plenty of momentum, as the Team Honda HRC rider is coming off his first win of the season and maintains the championship lead. He started the day with the quickest lap in free practice and ended the afternoon at the top of the qualifying order with a 46.186 time in the final session.

Eli Tomac was just a tick off the pace; 0.130 seconds to be exact. The Monster Energy Kawasaki rider’s best lap was a 46.316 in session two.

Adam Cianciarulo’s steady season continues. The Monster Energy Kawasaki rider has been fast all season, but has purposely backed it down a little bit so that he can be in the mix (and in one piece) through all 17 rounds. He was third-fastest overall with a 46.508 lap.

Joey Savatgy was the surprise of the afternoon. The Rocky Mountain ATV-MC/WPS/KTM rider showed some speed on Saturday night and was ranked fourth in qualifying after a 46.777 time.

Malcolm Stewart rounded out the top-five with a 46.786. The Monster Energy/Star Racing/Yamaha rider has put in his best run of qualifying time this season.

Jason Anderson and Fredrik Noren are out for tonight’s race due to injuries they got in practice incidents; one of Anderson’s fingers dislocated when his hand slipped off the grip and Noren had a hard crash during the first Timed Qualifying session.
