There’s always a race going on somewhere and over the weekend we ventured to Winterset, Iowa, to catch the 2021 Justin Brayton Shootout at Riverside Raceway. The standalone event is quickly becoming known to Midwest riders as a way to get in laps at one of Iowa’s popular tracks and hang out with local hero Justin Brayton and for Pro Class competitors to earn their share of the purse money before heading out on the summer’s pro tour.
Marshal Weltin left the track with most of the money but probably drove further than anyone to get it. The Thor/Kawasaki/Pro Circuit won five of the eight motos in the 250 A and Open A classes and pocketed $3665, enough to make the drive from Charlotte, North Carolina, worthwhile. Midwest racers Zack Williams and Cody Williams were the weekend’s other winners, as GASGAS-mounted Zack swept the 250 A class on Saturday and KTM-equipped Cody won the first 250 A moto on Sunday. Every moto was a fight to the finish and the distance between first and second place at the checkered flag was rarely more than a few feet. Click here to see results from the weekend.
