The first Triple Crown of the 2022 Monster Energy Supercross Series is officially here, as round five is underway in Glendale, AZ. Riders spent Saturday afternoon learning the track that fills the floor of State Farm Stadium, and to no surprise, the lap times are incredibly close. The front-runners in the 250 West Coast and 450 Class were split by just fractions of a second on the qualifying sheets, building the anticipation for tonight’s gate drops even more!
Here’s a look at the fastest lap times and results…
Hunter Lawrence took to the top of the leaderboards in 250 West Coast qualifying, after turning in a 1:03.118 on his last lap of the final session of qualifying. Hunter heads into to main events having logged the fastest lap time in both sessions of qualifying in the 250cc class.
Monster Energy/Star Racing/Yamaha’s Nate Thrasher made an appearance at the top of the time-sheets in the final session of qualifying, as he laid down a 1:03.153 and led the class until Hunter’s final lap. Just a few tenths off of the fastest lap, Nate’s day in Glendale is starting off well.
After four weekends up top, Christian Craig’s fastest qualifier streak has officially come to an end. Though, the Monster Energy/Star Racing/Yamaha rider is just a few tenths off of the fastest time, as he logged a 1:03.197 in the second session of qualifying.
Monster Energy/Star Racing/Yamaha’s Dylan Ferrandis shot to the top of the leaderboards in the final session of 450 class qualifying, as he logged a blistering fast 1:01.140 late in the session. Dylan moves onto the three main events as the fastest qualifier, awarding him with first gate-pick.
Teammate of Ferrandis, Eli Tomac finished up just behind with a 1:01.301 that he also turned in late in the final session. Things are looking good for the Monster Energy/Star Racing/Yamaha boys, as they sit first and second going into the three main events.
Monster Energy Kawasaki’s Jason Anderson rounded out the top-3 in qualifying, as his 1:01.649 was just a few hundredths off of the fastest time but good enough for third.
