The Monster Energy Supercross Series is back in East Rutherford, as round fourteen of the tour and the first showdown event of the year is well underway. The fastest riders in the world spent Saturday morning learning the unique track that fills the center of MetLife Stadium, and to no surprise, the lap times are incredibly close. Just fractions of a second split the front-runners in the 250 divisions and 450 Class on the qualifying sheets, which ratcheted up the anticipation for today’s event even more.
Here’s a look at the fastest lap times and results…
As expected, Jett Lawrence was the the guy to beat in 250SX West timed-qualifying, as he topped the charts in each session of riding. The Team Honda HRC racer logged a blistering fast 47.895 on the final lap of the last qualifying session.
Rj Hampshire was the next name on the time sheets, the Rockstar Energy Husqvarna racer logged a 48.563 late in the final session to jump into second fastest in the results.
RedBull KTM’s Maximus Vohland looked to be feeling the technical track, as he landed himself in third place on the results sheet after logging a 48.865.
Hunter Lawrence improved throughout the morning and ultimately laid down the fastest lap time in the 250SX East division. The current championship points-leader laid down a 48.701 in the final session of qualifying.
After two rough crashes in the final session of timed-qualifying, Jordon Smith exited the stadium early. Though, his 48.728 that he laid down early in the session was good enough for second place on the time sheets.
Max Anstie was the next name on the list, as his 49.331 was the third best time in the 250SX East division.
After a crash earlier this week, Talon Hawkins will sit out tonight’s race.
Jason Anderson was feeling it in timed-qualifying, as the Monster Energy Kawasaki rider topped the charts in the 450SX class with a 47.707. With that lap time, Anderson was the only rider in the session to dip below the 48s.
Team Honda HRC’s Chase Sexton jumped into second place late in the final session of qualifying after laying down a 48.168.
Justin Hill turned some heads in timed-qualifying, as the Team Tedder KTM rider logged a 48.277, the third fastest lap time of the class.
Adam Cianciarulo nailed Justin Barcia, who made a mistake on the opening lap of session two, and was sent over the bars and into the ground. Fortunately, the Monster Energy Kawasaki racer remounted and finished the riding session.
On the opening lap of the first session of 450SX timed-qualifying, Eli Tomac went down hard and limped his way out of the stadium. Though, Eli returned in the second and final session of qualifying and ended up 7th fastest.
After an early crash in the first session of 450SX timed-qualifying, Aaron Plessinger will unfortunately sit out the night-show.
