Round nine of the 2024 Monster Energy Supercross Championship is officially underway in Birmingham, Alabama as this morning’s timed qualifying sessions just wrapped up. Heavy rains on Friday left the course muddy, which led to the cancelation of Free Practice. Though, riders took to the challenging course that fills Protective Stadium just a few moments ago for their two timed-qualifying sessions. Just hundredths of a second split the front-runners in both the 250SX East and 450SX classes. Here’s a look at the fastest qualifiers and some information on how their qualifying sessions went in Birmingham!

Current 250SX East Championship points-leader Max Anstie set the fastest lap time of the field in the second and final session of timed-qualifying. The Firepower Honda racer logged a 54.172.

Seth Hammaker set the fastest lap time in the first session of timed-qualifying, but ultimately ended up in second place overall. Like the rest of the field, the Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki rider bettered his lap time in the final session with a 54.174.

Last weekend’s winner Tom Vialle rounded out the top-3 in timed-qualifying, as he set a 54.304 aboard his RedBull KTM.

By the end of the 450SX timed-qualifying sessions, Jett Lawrence had made his way to the top of the leaderboards. The Team Honda HRC rider laid down a blistering fast 52.777 to claim pole position ahead of tonight’s race.

Chase Sexton put in a last lap sprint and laid down the second best lap time in the second timed-qualifying session. The RedBull KTM Factory Racing rider logged a 52.928 to just edge out third place.

Eli Tomac was the next name on the time sheets, as he laid down his fastest lap time on the same lap as Jett Lawrence. The Monster Energy/Star Racing/Yamaha rider’s 52.991 was good enough for third place in timed-qualifying.
