––––––––
Yamaha topped the Motorcycle category, with eleven YZ-Fs fielded by Star Racing (six 250s and three 450s) and Club MX (two 250s). The Honda CRF450R was the most common bike of the premier class through the corporate effort (Team Honda HRC) and three OEM-supported teams (Phoenix Racing, Fire Power, MotoConcepts).
The PIERER Mobility Group’s three brands make up nearly a third of the list when the KTM/GASGAS/Husqvarna numbers are combined, and all but one are factory entries (Team Tedder).
––––––––
Renthal is the handlebar of choice for most (Team Honda HRC, Monster Energy Kawasaki, Red Bull KTM, Troy Lee Designs/Red Bull/GASGAS Factory Racing, and Triumph), plus Team Tedder and one division of HEP Motorsports. ProTaper, Mika Metals, and ODI have the rest of the numbers through nearly equal representation.
––––––––
FMF’s support of multiple teams (Star Racing, factory Husqvarna, BARX, factory Beta, Team Solitaire, ClubMX) puts it at the top of the exhaust category.
––––––––
Suspension was an exciting topic in Supercross this year, with multiple teams trying massive changes in the search for the ideal setting. However, being a component supplier to the OEMs was the still most important factor in the final numbers: all of the Honda and Kawasaki bikes were on Showa, while the Yamaha, Beta, and Triumph bikes were on Kayaba, a tally that put both at 16. Justin Hill broke the tie by running a KYB kit on his Team Tedder KTM.
––––––––
Dunlop remains the undisputed leader in the tire category, with 40 of the 42 bikes. Pirelli was the only other brand to rank.
––––––––
Seeing what gear is worn by whom is how the idea for this feature first came about, and with a staggering eleven brands listed, it’s a gauge for Moto’s fads and marketing strategies.
FLY Racing (Western Power Sports) has worked for years to establish its place in the industry, and its deals with three teams (BARX, Fire Power, HEP Motorsports) earned it the majority of the field. THOR (Parts Unlimited) is a close second with eight (Vialle, Plessinger, Webb, Star Racing 250 team). All six of Alpinestars’ riders are front-runners in the 450 Class.
––––––––
Advancements in rotational impact management, safety features, and adaptive technology have greatly influenced the helmet category. A company’s simultaneous need for a high-end helmet in the catalog and an elite racer wearing it is how Alpinestars and FLY Racing overtook specialist brands like Bell, 6D, Arai, Shoei, and HJC.
Alpinestars has quickly become a force, and just six years after the launch of the SM10, it’s now the most worn lid at the highest competitive level with eleven riders (the Lawrence brothers, Sexton, Plessinger, Cooper, and Star Racing’s 250 division).
––––––––
Oakley’s long-term relationships (Tomac/Sexton/Bloss/TLD GASGAS team) and some new signings (Plessinger/Hampshire/Cooper) propelled the iconic company to the top of the Goggle category.
SCOTT, 100%, Fox Racing, and FLY Racing are competing brands with distinct initiatives. SCOTT and 100% are known for goggles, while Fox Racing and FLY Racing use them to attain head-to-toe branding on a rider. Either way, the four brands look after a considerable portion of the list.
EKS Brand’s on-track number is impressive and includes private label products for FXR’s Factory Ride and Alpinestars.
––––––––
As usual, Alpinestars has the most boots on track, and by a lot, with 30 of the 42 riders.
––––––––
Kyle Chisholm was the only neck brace-wearing rider to score championship points in 2024.
