2024 Foxborough Supercross | Race Report & Results

After a weekend off, the 2024 Monster Energy Supercross Championship returned with round thirteen in Foxborough. The unique track shaped up to provide a technical and entertaining race course for the evening program. The fans inside Gillette Stadium saw a thrilling night of close battles, crashes, and important finishes in the 250 East Region and 450 Class. At the end of the night, both championships were closer than they were at the beginning of the day. 

250 Heat One

After a not so great start, Haiden Deegan made his way into second place and up to the front to challenge Chance Hymas for the lead. However, while exiting the sand Haiden stalled his machine and dropped back to fifth place before he could re-fire his YZ250F. That gave Cameron McAdoo second place, which allowed him to challenge for the race lead with just over a lap to go. Chance Hymas fought off the pressure from McAdoo long enough to snag his first career heat race victory. 

250 Heat Two

The second start of the night went to Max Anstie, who grabbed the early race lead ahead of Coty Schock. Coty shuffled Swoll and a few others back in the first section to grab that second place position. Daxton Bennick took third place from Casey Cochran on the second lap. Tom Vialle then shuffled the rookie back to fifth place with a pass on the following lap. 

Max Anstie worked his way to over a 2-second lead, while Bennick challenged Schock for second place. However, Tom Vialle was on the charge and was looking for a way past Daxton. After a handful of laps, Bennick finally went for a pass and dove inside, though, Coty responded in the next corner to hold onto second place. Tom Vialle then capitalized and made the pass on Bennick for third place. Max Anstie took the quiet, but impressive, heat race win. 

250 LCQ

Bryce Shelly grabbed the start and the early race lead in the 250SX LCQ, while Shive and others were down in the first corner. Vinny Luhovey made a pass after the whoops to take the race lead from Shelly. Bryton Carroll shuffled himself into third place after the opening lap, just ahead of Welch. 

Carroll was then going after Shelly and second place, as he searched for a line past him. Bryton Carroll then went down after loosing traction, dropping him back to sixth place. That mistake put Welch in third and Marsalisi in the final transfer position. Up front, Bryce Shelly re-passsed Luhovey for the race lead. 

On the final lap, Marsalisi passed Welch for third place. Bryce Shelly crossed the finish line to take his first LCQ victory. 

250 Main Event

Haiden Deegan executed a great start to round the first corner with the upper hand. Tom Vialle and Seth Hammaker trailed closely in second and third place. Cameron McAdoo then made the pass on his teammate on the opening lap, through the whoops, to take over third place. After just a lap, Haiden Deegan already held nearly a 2-second cushion over Vialle.

Seth Hammaker went down on the second lap in the whoop section, dropping him to last place. Cameron McAdoo was now on Tom’s rear fender and pressuring for second place. Cameron dove inside to take the position away from Vialle and set his sights on Deegan. Following his crash on lap two, Seth Hammaker rode back to the pits and was out of the race. 

Up front, Haiden Deegan held a 3.5 second cushion over Cameron McAdoo. Back in the pack, Jalek Swoll and Nick Romano battled for seventh place, while Bennick lurked just behind. Jalek opted to jump through the whoops, which proved to be slower; allowing Bennick to blitz past and then go after his teammate. In one lap, Daxton went from ninth to seventh place. 

Max Anstie and Pierce Brown battled over fourth place, until Max ventured off track after cross-rutting in a rhythm lane. Haiden Deegan crossed the finish line to collect the win in Foxborough. 

450 Heat One

The first 450SX start of the night went to Eli Tomac, who had teammate Justin Cooper in tail. Shane McElrath sat in third place after a great start and Hunter Lawrence trailed him. Meanwhile, Ken Roczen and Adam Cianciarulo both had starts outside of the top-7 and were making moves early. 

Justin Cooper pressured Tomac on the opening lap, but Eli upped the pace and worked his way to a 2-second cushion after a few laps. After lurking in fourth for three laps, Hunter Lawrence made a pass on McElrath through the whoops and picked up third. While in second place, Justin Cooper got kicked over the bars in the main rhythm lane and was thrown off track. Fortunately, Justin looked to be okay but his heat race was over. 

Justin Barcia, Ken Roczen, and Justin Hill shuffled McElrath back to sixth place. Hunter Lawrence sat 8-seconds behind Tomac in second place, following Justin Cooper’s crash. On the final lap, Ken Roczen made the pass on Barcia. Eli Tomac took the heat race win in Foxborough. 

450 Heat Two

Cooper Webb just edged out Jason Anderson and Jett Lawrence to take the early lead in the second 450SX heat. Jason Anderson was in second place, but Jett cut inside a few corners in to take over the position. Jett then immediately went after Webb and the lead following the whoop section. Webb continued to lead the heat, as he blocked Jett’s initial pass attempts. 

Chase Sexton made the pass on Anderson to take over third place, but he sat 3-seconds behind the battle up front after just a few laps. A few laps passed and Jett was still pressuring Webb for the lead. With just a few laps to go, Jett dove inside of Webb after the triple jump and finally made the pass for the lead. Jett then used his whoop speed to immediately put a second between himself and Webb. Jett Lawrence took the win in the exciting heat race. 

450 LCQ

Ty Masterpool executed the start to leave turn one in the race lead, but Devin Simonson took him high in the second turn to take over the lead. Benny Bloss hit a tuff block in the first section and bunched up the rest of the field. However, Benny recovered nicely to then pass Masterpool for second place. 

Benny Bloss then passed Simonson for the race lead, as Justin Cooper trailed the lead group in fourth place. Justin Cooper then passed Masterpool for third place and a few sections later Ty made a mistake that allowed A-Rod to also make a pass. Justin Cooper then dove inside of Simonson to take over second place. 

Ty Masterpool managed to make his way back around Rodriguez to secure the final transfer position after his mistake. Benny Bloss crossed the checkered flag to collect the LCQ win. 

450 Main Event

The 450SX Main Event start and early race lead went to Cooper Webb, who had Ken Roczen in tail. Shane McElrath and Jason Anderson sat in third and fourth, but Jason advanced past Shane early. Chase Sexton then passed into fourth place, before going after Anderson for third. Meanwhile, Jett Lawrence was outside of the top-10 after a bad start. 

Eli Tomac then went down on the second lap, dropping him back to 11th place. Up front, Ken Roczen sat within a second of Webb and was pressuring the fastest qualifier. However, Chase Sexton then upped his pace after getting around Anderson and caught up to Roczen’s rear wheel. Justin Hill sat just behind Anderson and held onto fifth place after a great start and a solid pace. 

Eli Tomac and Jett Lawrence charged through the pack after their equally poor starts to the race. The duo advanced into fifth and sixth place with 9-minutes on the clock. Jett then made the pass on Tomac to take over fifth place. After lurking for a few laps, Chase Sexton made a few attempts at a pass on Roczen but then fell back after failing to find a line to make the move. 

With just 6-minutes left on the clock, Sexton was back on Roczen and pressuring again for second place. Chase nearly drifted off track but scrubbed mid-rhythm lane to dive inside of Ken and finally take away second place. Chase then set his sights on Webb and the race lead. On the final lap, Chase got within half a second but then lost traction and lost some time. Cooper Webb just edged out Chase Sexton and took the race win in Foxborough. In the final corner, Jett Lawrence dove inside of Jason Anderson, but Jason held the throttle wide and held onto fourth place.
