2024 Fort Worth SuperMotocross | Playoff Two

250SMX Moto One

Haiden Deegan rocketed out of the start in Fort Worth and earned himself the early race lead, while Pierce Brown went down in the first corner. A few laps later, Haiden Deegan began to break away from Jo Shimoda and the rest of the pack, as Tom Vialle began to pressure Ty Masterpool for third place. Just behind, Jordon Smith cut inside of RJ Hampshire and took away fifth place, while putting Hampshire on the ground.

Nate Thrasher looked to be out of the race after a big crash over the tunnel jump just a few laps into the first race of the day. While running in third place, Ty went to scrub over the tunnel jump and lost traction, which put him in the dirt. Fortunately for Ty Masterpool, he remounted quickly and lost only three positions. 

After remounting from his crash, Ty lost positions to Marchbanks, Kitchen, and Hampshire; likely due to the hard hit he took just a lap before. Back up front, Haiden Deegan worked his way to a 7-second cushion over Jo Shimoda, who remained in second place. While running in sixth place, Garrett Marchbanks went down and dropped back to tenth. 

RJ Hampshire made the pass on Levi Kitchen after pressuring for a few laps, which shuffled him up to sixth place. Miraculously, Hampshire reeled-in Beaumer, who had an eleven-second lead with 6 laps to go, but RJ was unable to make a pass before crossing the finish line. Haiden Deegan crossed the checkered flag to make it three in a row for the 2024 SMX series. 

250SMX Moto Two

The second 250 start of the day went to Haiden Deegan, again, and this time he had Levi Kitchen and RJ Hampshire in tail. Levi was quick to pressure Haiden, as he looked inside a few times on the opening lap. Meanwhile, Jordon Smith was down with another rider in the first corner – an unfortunate sight after a solid first moto. Ty Masterpool and Tom Vialle sat in forth and fifth place, but Ty then slid off track and went down off the course. 

Levi Kitchen was on Haiden’s rear wheel but then drifted too far outside and had to jump off the course to avoid clipping a tuff-block. That incident gave Haiden over a second cushion over Levi. Jo Shimoda began making moves, as he was the fastest guy on track while pressuring Vialle for fourth place. Tom responded to the pressure from Jo and began reeling-in Hampshire, which made it a three-rider battle. 

Rj Hampshire then tried to uncork a triple and collided with a tuff-block, again, which sent him into the dirt hard and ended his race. The battle then moved to a fight over second place, as Vialle and Shimoda caught up to the rear wheel of Kitchen. Both Tom Vialle and Jo Shimoda advanced past Kitchen after a few laps. 

Pierce Brown put together another incredible charge through the pack, as he passed up to fifth place after being down in the first corner with Jordon Smith. Haiden Deegan crossed the checkered flag to claim the victory in Fort Worth and continue his streak in SMX.

450SMX Moto One

The first 450 start of the day went to Hunter Lawrence, who cut inside of Eli Tomac and the rest of the field. Jett Lawrence made some quick passes in the opening sections to advance up to second place. Cooper Webb trailed in third, while Ken Roczen and Eli Tomac lurked in fourth and fifth. Meanwhile, Chase Sexton did not have a great start in the first moto of the day, as he came around in ninth place on the opening lap. 

Up front, Hunter and Jett Lawrence began to break away from Cooper Webb, who remained in third place. With several laps down, Hunter Lawrence actually built up a-bit of a cushion over his brother. Eli Tomac began to up the pace, as he made the move on both Roczen and then Webb to take over third place. 

Chase Sexton was finally joining the picture after his poor start, as he passed Roczen to advance into the top-5. While leading, Hunter Lawrence nearly went down in the main rhythm lane after casing a triple-jump, which allowed Jett to jump past and into the race lead. 

Back up front, Eli Tomac reeled-in the Lawrence brothers, making it a three rider fight for the race win. Jett stalled in an inside rut while leading, which handed the race lead back to Hunter, and allowed Tomac to pass for second. Eli Tomac pulled alongside Hunter but the older Lawrence brother held him off and continued to lead. 

Jett Lawrence then pulled inside of Tomac a few laps later in the same spot, but Eli held him off for second place. Hunter Lawrence took the checkered flag first to claim his first victory in the 450SMX series. 

450SMX Moto Two

The final start of the day in Texas went to Dylan Ferrandis, who had Aaron Plessinger and Jason Anderson in tail. Meanwhile, Malcolm Stewart and Phil Nicoletti were tangled up and down in the first turn. Chase Sexton was quick to make some passes on the opening lap, as he advanced past Plessinger and Webb to then hunt down Ferrandis.

Chase Sexton then capitalized on a small mistake from Dylan and made the pass for the race lead. Cooper Webb then slingshot past Ferrandis out of the sand to take over second place. Jason Anderson looked to be laboring a-bit after last weekend’s crash, as he faded back to eighth after a good start. 

A few spots behind the leaders, Hunter and Jett Lawrence were battling over fifth place, while reeling-in Ferrandis. Jett looked to have the pass made on Hunter but then ran into Ferrandis, which slowed him back up. Both Hunter and Jett made the pass on Dylan in the following section to pick up fourth and fifth place.

Eli Tomac followed the Lawrence brothers, as he advanced into sixth place. Jett Lawrence used an inside line to pass Hunter for fourth place. Meanwhile, Chase Sexton continued to lead and held a 6-second cushion over Cooper Webb. The Lawrence brothers began to close-in on Plessinger and Webb, and ultimately they passed both competitors to secure second and third place. 

On the final lap, Hunter Lawrence nearly went down and went off course, but managed to hold onto the podium position. Chase Sexton crossed the finish line to secure the win in moto two, while Hunter Lawrence finished in third place to claim the overall victory in Fort Worth.
