2025 San Diego Supercross | Qualifying Report
Round two of the 2025 Monster Energy Supercross Championship and the 2025 SuperMotocross World Championship is officially underway, as the second race day of the season is in progress following this morning’s qualifying sessions. Riders took to the unique course that fills the inside of Snap Dragon Stadium just a few moments ago for their timed-qualifying practices. Just hundredths of a second split the front-runners in both the 250SX West and 450SX classes. Here’s a look at the fastest qualifiers and some information on how their qualifying sessions went in San Diego!
Haiden Deegan is off to a great start in San Diego, as the Monster Energy/Star Racing/Yamaha rider topped Beaumer’s fast lap in the final session of Timed-Qualifying with a 52.848 to claim the fastest qualifier title. Redbull KTM Factory Racing’s Julien Beaumer had to settle for second place on the leaderboards, with his 53.142. After a few tip-overs, Michael Mosiman rebounded with a 53.229 in the final session to claim third on the lap sheets.
Last weekend’s winner and current 250SX red-plate holder Jo Shimoda rode back to the pits early after being hit my another mechanic’s pit board. The Team Honda HRC rider was seen holding his hand in visible pain.
Factory Triumph’s Stilez Robertson only did a roll-lap in the final session of Timed-Qualifying before riding back to the truck. Although there is no official word, we wouldn’t be surprised if he is dealing with an illness – as many others in the paddock seem to be.
After last weekend’s victory, Chase Sexton looked to be carrying his momentum into San Diego, as the Redbull KTM Factory Racing rider topped the charts in 450SX Timed-Qualifying. The current red-plate holder laid down an impressive 51.566 late in the final session of qualifying. Following Chase’s fast lap, Team Honda HRC’s Jett Lawrence was shuffled back to second place on the leaderboards with his 51.634. Monster Energy/Star Racing/Yamaha’s Eli Tomac rounded out the top-3 in Timed-Qualifying with a 51.987.
