It’s always rad when a youngster has a distinct style that makes him stand out from the rest…you can always tell when their parents put a lot of thought into their young racers bike and kit. Bucky Karvasek was consistently near the front of the 50cc classes that he competed in at the Mini Major, and his unique number and clean setup caused us to roam the pits looking to meet him.

How is the Mini Major going for you so far this year?

It’s been going really good.

How did you get into motocross riding?

My dad used to race cars and stuff then we started riding in the desert.

What is it about dirtbike racing that you like so much?

It’s just really fun. You just get to ride tracks all across the country.

Why did you choose your number 00?

Because a long time ago my dad used to be 00 on his Nascar.

The Mini Major is a race just for kids on mini bikes, what do you think of the event?

This is my second time here and I think the Mini Major is really cool because it’s not a lot of big bikes. It’s just for mini bikes and its fun to camp out here.

Have you taken a shower yet this week?

No…

At school, do all of our buddies know you race motocross?

Yeah!

Do you hang out with people that ride at school?

There’s one person that not in my school but his name is Broden and I play with him and ride with him.

What kind of bikes do you ride?

Cobras mostly and I have a Husky.

Which do you like better?

I like the Cobra, it’s just wide and big with more suspension.

You like it being big?

Yeah.

When you race what are your favorite parts of the track? Where are you the best at where you know you’re going to pass people?

The big jump in the middle. I like jumps.

What do you think of State Fair Motocross Park?

It’s really good because it’s new and this is the first race here.

What are your favorite tracks to ride at?

Probably AME Minicross, Perris Raceway, and here.

So you’re a Fasthouse rider, what do you think of their gear?

I think it is really cool cause my dad really likes black and white and I do too. They have a lot of black and white stuff!
