Good news from Joey Savatgy: the JGRMX/Yoshimura/Suzuki Factory Racing rider has been cleared to return to riding after a lengthy recovery from a heel injury. Savatgy went down during practice at the 2019 AUS-X Open in Australia last November and suffered fractures to his heel and the navicular bone in his ankle, which required emergency surgery, follow-up procedures in the United States, and a four-month timeline to heal. With Savatgy unable to race through the first part of the year, the team tapped a number of riders to fill his place during the first part of the 2020 Monster Energy Supercross Series.

On Tuesday, Savatgy took to Instagram and announced that his latest round of X-rays revealed that the fractures were fixed and that he will ease back into riding this week. Mostly silent during the downtime, Savatgy stayed at his home outside Tallahassee, did not attend many races, and was absent on social media.

Savatgy is one of the riders that could certainly benefit from the current lack of racing due to COVID-19, as the delayed start to the 2020 Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship will allow him more time to train and possibly test with the JGRMX team.
