The GNCC season continues its run of events this weekend with the 2020 Camp Coker Bullet GNCC, the fifth round of the championship. After an exciting return to action a few weeks ago in Georgia, many are eager to see how the running order of the East Coast off-road series unfolds in the woods of South Carolina, especially with the recent developments like Kailub Russell’s streak of four wins, Ricky Russell’s season-ending injury and Steward Baylor’s split from the Sherco racing squad. Does Baylor return to the starting line with his independent KTM in an attempt to halt K. Russell’s run of victory or will someone like Josh Strang step up and beat the defending champion in his farewell tour? West Coast racer Cody Webb has been added to the entry list for the weekend for his first GNCC since 2011 and the Sherco-backed rider could certainly make things interesting…
Four rounds of racing have helped shape the championship standings in both the XC1 and XC2 divisions. Russell’s aforementioned run of victories has him well ahead in the running for the premier division (leader Russell has 120 points, second-place Strang has 92 points), but the battle is much closer in the XC2 Class. Craig DeLong’s win in the XC2 Class at the Bulldog GNCC a few weeks ago put him at the top of the list for the small-bore class, but he’s only four points ahead of second-place Jonathan Girroir and five points up on Mike Witkowski. This trio is well ahead of the rest of the riders in the standings (Witkowski is up 30 points on Cody Barnes), so it’ll come down to this group in the hunt for the title.
After keeping the camera crew at home in Georgia to abide by social distancing restrictions, Racer Productions will have their full staff on hand in South Carolina and will broadcast complete live coverage of the race to their online platforms. Check back on Sunday for a post that’ll include the race broadcast stream. Until then, press play on the highlights from the Bulldog GNCC and look at the results and standings.

2020 MESQUITE WORCS

After a few delays and blocked attempts, WORCS will get back to it with the third round for the motorcycle classes with a weekend of racing on the Nevada-Arizona border in Mesquite. The West Coast series has been on hold since late February, so the full field of competitors will be eager to get back on the starting line and will pick up where they left off at round two in Taft, California.
Taylor Robert was the dominant rider of the Pro Class with wins at the first two rounds and he holds a 13-point lead over Austin Walton, proof that the defending champion is in control. Things are much closer in the Pro 2 and Pro 2 Lights divisions, with only seven points separating Mason Ottersberg/Mateo Olivera/Tallon LaFountaine in Pro 2 and 10-points between Tyler Lynn/Angus Riordan/Jake Alvarez in Pro 2 Lights. Although these riders have been the most consistent through the first two races, guys like Trevor Stewart/Zach Bell/Cole Martinez/Dante Olivera/Ryan Surratt could make things interesting on any given day.
