The demise of the GEICO Honda squad at the conclusion of the 2020 racing season left Jo Shimoda without a ride, even though the rookie professional had one more season left on his factory contract. Like the rest of the squad, Shimoda and his agent Lucas Mirtle began to look for a new home for 2021 and beyond. Though the official press release has yet to drop, the young racer from Suzuka, Japan, has been linked to the powerful Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki team, and we were on hand to catch his first day on a stock Kawasaki KX250 on film. Jo’s trademark smooth, effortless style seemed to work perfectly on the all-new machine, and he agreed to chat with us a little bit about his new colors.
