Is there a tricky jump at the exit of an off-camber corner at your local track? These are becoming more common, thanks in part to the instantaneous torque offered by four-stroke bikes and they’re a little trickier to ace than the normal leap with a straight approach. What’s it take to get over them without issue? Here’s Nick Wey’s advice.

While setting up for an off-camber corner that leads into a jump, it’s important to get enough momentum to clear the obstacle at the exit of the corner. You want to plan ahead and pick a line that will allow you to maintain speed through the section and then clear the obstacle easily. 

As you get into the corner and begin to lay the bike over, sit on the side of the seat. This will help you get weight to the outside footpeg and more traction. Once you hit the apex of the corner, be sure to get your outside elbow up, which will get weight over the front of the bike and give more front-end traction.

It’s important in every section of the track to hold on tightly with your legs and in this instance, it’s key to open up the corner and make it as round as possible, that way you maintain your speed and don’t have to slow down.
