Jeremy Coker had reason to celebrate after the Denver Supercross. Monster Energy/Star Racing/Yamaha, the team Coker’s worked with for years, had just earned their first-ever 450 Supercross championship with Eli Tomac, a rider he helped bring to the BluCru in the offseason. Getting the SX title was always the goal for the rider and team, but neither could have predicted what would happen between the first gate drop and the last checkered flag, like the seven Main Events wins that pushed Tomac up the all-time list or the knee injury that hindered him through the final rounds.

Coker stepped away from the championship celebration to talk about the SX achievement, ET’s injury, and the team’s outlook on the looming Pro Motocross season with defending champion Dylan Ferrandis.
