Chase Sexton Injures Collarbone

On Sunday afternoon a tweet by David Vuillemin stated that a 250 West Coast Supercross title contender had been injured while playing a pit bike and would be at risk of missing the opening round at Anaheim One. It didn’t take long to figure out who the former pro racer was talking about, as Chase Sexton had posted a now-deleted video of himself riding a small red pit bike around a track in teammate Jo Shimoda’s backyard. We reached out to the GEICO Honda team and they confirmed that Sexton had suffered an injury, but the extent was unclear until the rider’s planned doctor visit on Monday, where it was confirmed that surgery would be necessary to repair the damage and a plate was inserted.
Although Sexton is the defending 250 East Coast Supercross champion, there was talk that he would pass up the chance to run the number one plate and instead race the West Coast region, as it would give him more time to test with Team Honda HRC before the start of his 450 career in the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship. With this injury, Sexton and the team will recover and wait for the start of the East Coast region at the 2020 Tampa Supercross in February.
This is the second collarbone issue for Sexton this offseason, as he was injured in October while riding with friends in Illinois.
