Off-road racing season is underway! The 2021 AMA National Enduro got things started last weekend with the first race of their yearlong nine-round championship in Sumter, South Carolina. The enduro discipline is unique in the way that riders are racing the clock, not exactly each other, in their fight for position at the top of the result sheets but since it’s still a woods race, it’s common for the East Coast-based riders to compete in both the Enduro and GNCC tours at the same time.
Am Pro Yamaha’s Steward Baylor and KLM Motorsports/Milwaukee/GasGas’ Grant Baylor Grant Baylor’s total times were within 32 seconds of each other at the finish line, with the win going to Steward Baylor. Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing’s Craig DeLong finished in third place, his first event in the Pro1 division.
Trail Jesters KTM Racing’s Jesse Ansley took the win in the Pro2 class and was classified seventh overall, an impressive result in what’s slated to be Ansley’s only AMA Enduro this season.
