Colt Nichols Suffers Torn Labrum In Offseason Crash

Colt Nichols will spend a significant portion of the offseason on the couch due to a torn labrum suffered in a recent practice crash. The Monster Energy/Star Racing/Yamaha rider went down a few weeks ago in Southern California and the damage required surgery, which Nichols is currently recovering from. This is a blow for a rider widely seen as a title contender in the 250 class of the 2020 Monster Energy Supercross Series as the healing time will take much of the offseason, but he has confirmed that he will line up for the East Coast region, which begins in February.
The 2019 season was a breakthrough for Nichols, thanks to his career-first Main Event win at the opening round in Anaheim, five podium finishes, and time at the top of the point standings through a considerable part of the season; he ultimately finished third overall in the championship.
