AMSOIL El Dorado | Round Two | Perris Raceway

The AMSOIL Swapmoto Race Series rolled into Perris Raceway for the first time in 2021, as the El’ Dorado tour made its second stop of the new year last weekend. Over 600 eager racers rolled into the Perris, CA facility to participate in the first mudder of the new year, as SoCal experienced some heavy showers on the days leading up to the race. Despite the heavy rain, the crew at Perris Raceway managed to scrape off the mud, drain the puddles, and provide two tracks ready for racing. After the race was all settled and done, round two of the AMSOIL El’ Dorado series was definitely one for the books!

We really began to question if the racing on Sunday was even possible, due to the amount on rain fall that hit SoCal the days prior. However, the track crew at Perris Raceway worked their magic and got both tracks raceable just in-time for gate drop. And although the tracks were far better than what the crew was faced with initially, both tracks still ranked more technical and difficult than usual because of the rain. Desmond Spears didn’t seem bothered by the muddy conditions one-bit, as he clearly laid down the fastest lap times of the day aboard his Honda. Desmond dominated in both the Pro 450F and Pro Open classes, finishing well over 30-seconds in front of his competition. At the end of the day, Desmond left Perris Raceway with four individual moto wins and two overall class victories.

Rain or shine, muddy or dry, there is no stopping the vet racers. Nathan Jones came out to do battle on the wet Sunday morning and entered his KTM in both the 30+ Intermediate and Vet Int Open classes. And much like Desmond in the pro classes, Nathan seemed unbothered by the muddy track conditions as he raced his way to four impressive moto wins. After sweeping both his classes and claiming two overall class victories, we’d say Nathan was happy to wash the mud off of his bike at the end of the day.
