Garage Finds | Dubya USA Cerakoted Hubs

Okay, so this is a more modern Garage Find, but these wheels started out as an absolutely clapped-out set from a 2005 Kawasaki KX125. We got our hands on a basket-case two-stroke a few months ago and have slowly, but surely. been making progress gathering parts and rebuilding it. The goal? An Alex Ray two-stroke video, of course! After all, if the engine holds together through an ARay torture session; we know that it will be safe for us to race. Haha!
When it came time to rebuild the potato-chip wheelset, there was really only one choice in our minds: John Anderson and his team at Dubya USA. In addition to importing Talon and Kite hubs to the United States, and being a distributor of D.I.D and Excel rims, Dubya is known well in racing circles as the best wheel builders in the sport. A few years ago, Dubya USA started to Cerakote stock hubs in a variety of different colors. Cerakote is a super-hard coating that protects the material beneath it, without adding weight or mass as powder coating does.
One of the services that Dubya USA offers, is taking a set of stock wheels, applying Cerakote to the hubs, and rebuilding the wheel using Bulldog Spokes and the rim of your choice. That said, a new set of billet aluminum hubs seemed like overkill for our basket-case Kawasaki, so we went with a magnesium-colored Cerakot finish on the stock hubs, and finished the wheel with black spokes, nipples, and Excel rims Complete wheels rebuilds of this nature start at only $650 and – in our opinion – that’s a steal because the wheels will be built by the talented in-house wheel builders at Dubya. Backyard Design Graphic Kit of the Week
Starting at $179.95
Backyard Design was founded in 2010 by two privateer Supercross racers: Jared Hicks from Alabama and Philipp Klakow from Germany. What started as a project to fund their Supercross racing efforts has now grown into a worldwide graphics manufacturer, with dual headquarters in the United States and Germany. Backyard Design is known for being one of the first custom graphics makers to have a completely interactive website, where customers can design their own kits with a few clicks on a computer mouse.
Another week, another sick kit by the guys at Backyard Design. We know many of you want your bikes to look like the factory machines that fill the pit area, but with your personal touch or sponsors. Why rep the companies that don’t support you? That’s where the Design Configurator at backyarddesignusa.com comes in, as the easy to use program allows you to take the base designs offered by the company and put your spin on the scheme. This setup looks sweet with its use of three shades of green and is ready for some small refinements that’ll make it a representation of you. Head to backyarddesignusa.com and get creative with the templates offered for nearly every OEM.
