The last few years have been an eventful time for Justin Bogle. Remember in when he was a 450 Moto and Overall winner with RCH in 2017? All of that progress was washed away by crashes and injuries during his short, almost forgotten stint at JGRMX. He came into 2019 determined to get back to his rank in the running order, only to have the team he was tied to fall apart just before the Supercross season.

A fill-in ride at Rocky Mountain ATV-MC/WPS/KTM came up at the very last minute, which then turned to a full-time deal that carried Bogle through 29 rounds of the AMA Supercross and motocross championships. Heat race wins, quick qualifying laps, and good results put Bogle ninth overall in the final point standings of both series and showed that he’s able to do the full calendar without issue.

Even though Bogle lined up for every race, he faced his share of setbacks. He was diagnosed with the Epstein-Barr virus midway through Supercross, which drained his energy during the hotter rounds of the Nationals and kept him from putting in the necessary training.

It’s no secret that Bogle has a unique personality and a life away from the track, something he shows in his clothing and musical projects. It takes a certain level of confidence to be that open and he’s carried that over into every aspect of his life.

With the year wrapped up, we sat down for an hour to discuss all that has occurred over the past twelve months, what it’s like to go through the process of getting some sort of team support in a competitive era, and the mental outlook of racing at the highest level. This isn’t a standard motocross conversation, but it’s insightful and shows there’s more to racing than just laps on the track.
