Kyle Peters is going for his fourth AMA Arenacross title in just as many years. The Phoenix Racing Honda rider has developed a knack for the tight and technical series, encapsulated by 2021’s perfect record, but KP knows this pursuit of a number one plate will be tougher than the others. What’s different?

Peters is still getting over his crash at the 2022 St. Louis Supercross, an incident that resulted in broken C5 and C6 vertebrae with sensations of numbness and tingling in his arms. An emergency surgery, which inserted rods and pins from C4 to C7 and took the pressure off the spinal cord, was the first step to a seven-month recovery that was marked by intense therapy, a gradual reintroduction to the motorcycle, and the first gate drop of the fourteen-round season.
