When athletes race the Mint 400, they know they’re going up against not only one of the toughest contests in North America, but some of the best competition in their respective sports. Maxxis’ sponsored athletes Michael McFayden and Ethan Ebert took on these challenges and drove straight to the podium this past weekend, and Trey Gibbs turned in an excellent performance with fourth in his class and a spectacular seventh overall.
McFayden was 2nd in UTV Pro NA, finishing the 4-lap race in 9 hours, 24 minutes and 38 seconds. Even in the Mint 400’s brutal desert terrain, the Maxxis RAZR XT tires on his Honda Talon lived up to their reputation for excellent cornering, traction and stability at speed.
Ebert blazed a path to the 3rd-place spot on the 2WD podium and 13th overall, with a final time of 7 hours, 41 minutes and 46 seconds. His Honda Ridgeline was outfitted with the very same DOT-approved RAZR MT tires that Maxxis fans can buy for their own daily rides.
Also riding RAZR MTs, Gibbs cracked the overall top 10 in 7th place and was 4th in Unlimited Spec after finishing in 7 hours, 17 minutes and 46 seconds.
Other Maxxis-sponsored athletes also did well riding Maxxis in brutal desert conditions: Todd Zuccone of Evolution Powersports won UTV Modified on his RAZR XT tires with a 6-hour, 49-minute and 13-second finish, while Paul Vitale took fourth in Open Sportsman Motorcycle, crossing the finish line in 8 hours, 13 minutes and 9 seconds.
Maxxis congratulates all of these athletes for conquering the legendary Mint 400 and achieving these excellent results.
