Right after Summer X Games, we texted our friend Taka Higashino and told him that we wanted to shoot. “I leave for Australia tomorrow for Nitro,” he said. “I’m not sure when I am coming back!” Knowing that our friend from Osaka, Japan, might not be in SoCal for a while, we drove to his place to do a quick podcast, and man was it a good one!
While we were there, we marveled over his fleet of identically prepared motorcycles and asked why he had so many. “I wanna be like a factory rider,” he joked. Then, we asked if we could shoot one when he got back. To our surprise, Taka sent us home with the brand-new bike in his garage that he has yet to break-in and ride. “Just bring it back when I get home,” he said. While a technical breakdown of Higashino’s FMX bike is on its way, we decided that while we had the machine in our garage, we might as well pair it with someone equally as good looking. Enter the August Moto Model Sandy Cheeks a 24-year-old from Los Angeles, California, who had a lot of fun working alongside Taka’s brand-new Yamaha YZ250.
