Carry speed up the face. Use the brakes as much as you feel is necessary, but don’t bind up the brakes or chop the throttle unnecessarily, which could cause the front-end to dive.

Initiate the lean. Get your body in the right position, with a good grip on the bars and legs tucked next to the bike, and start to lay it over as you approach the lip. Put your weight into the bike and turn the bars in the intended direction.

Straighten out and soak up the landing. Going from a single to flat can be jarring, so it’s important to have the bike centered and your body ready when it’s time for touchdown.

Know the proper time and place. Not every jump needs to be scrubbed.
