Suddenly, I am 17 Again! | Editor’s Corner, Ep.7

One of the coolest things about being a motocross journalist is getting to work with the stars of our sport, and over the 35 years I’ve been doing so I’ve been able to become good friends with many of them. I still get a kick out of the adrenaline rush I still get, however, when I get to interact with racers from the 80s who I never got to work with in a professional capacity. Even though I started at Cycle News in 1990, my first five years on staff were spent covering the Grand National Championship Series with guys like Ricky Graham, Jay Springsteen, Scott Parker, and Chris Carr. That said, I never interviewed Rick Johnson, Jeff Ward, David Bailey, Ron Lechien, or Johnny O’Mara, and I still get that star-struck feeling when I see them today!
Imagine my excitement, if you will, when RJ and Wardy came to me with the idea of helping create their show, Podium To Present, on which they will reminisce old times, interview some big names, and even recap current races! We’ve got the pilot in the can but are still tweaking it a little bit before its premiere, but I thought I’d speak on this opportunity in this installment of Editor’s Corner. Thanks for watching!
