The recent marriage of The KTM Group and GasGas has almost been swept under the rug and stuck in the shadows of the drama following the COVID-19 pandemic. However, this is some huge news for both motocross and trials. If you just look back to 2013, Husqvarna was nonexistent in motocross racing, but just a few years after KTM took over the brand, they were winning championships with Zach Osborne and Jason Anderson. That being said, we’ve been excited to see the new direction GasGas is headed and had our first glimpse of the partnership at the California Trial Invitational.
GasGas’s Geoff Aaron put his years of trials experience to work and designed a unique course for ten of the countries best riders to compete on. From tractor tires to 12-foot tall concrete cylinders, the course seemed to have it all. GasGas invited Swapmoto Live and other motocross media groups out to their testing grounds in Murrieta, CA to check out the event and get a taste of the trials world. Following the exciting event, we had a chance to test out a 2021 GasGas TXT Racing 300cc on the EnduroCross course. All and all, we think the event was a perfect way to kick off the new brand ownership and get the motocross community excited for what’s to come from GasGas.
Awesome coverage. Great to see trials get some love in the USA. But Dommer! A little quick to quit the trials scene. Maybe the right boots an proper helmet and a ice chest full of Modelo darks. You get your trials wings.
