Monster Energy and Yamaha announced the continuation of a global sponsorship that stretches across all disciplines of professional motorcycle racing, including SuperMotocross, MotoGP, and MXGP, with a universal look that the YZ race bikes will run through 2023.
Several representatives from Yamaha were on hand at the San Diego Supercross to celebrate the strengthened alliance, including MotoGP champion Fabio Quartararo, MotoGP race team Managing Director Lin Jarvis, and Yamaha Motor Company Director of Motorsport Toyoshi Nishida.
Their visit to Southern California was part of a week of international travel, which started with the official MotoGP team launch on Tuesday during Yamaha Indonesia’s 3S Dealer Meeting in Jakarta, where the YZR-M1 race bike’s livery was unveiled at the largest dealer meeting within YMC’s network.
The battle-inspired design, which has the M claw over a gray and black camouflage graphic, was created by Aldo Drudi, an Italian artist known for his work on Valentino Rossi’s themed helmets.
