There are very few riders who can make the most of all the power that a 450cc motocross bike offers, but at the same time not everyone likes the high-revving and high aggression of a 250. That’s where a 350cc machine comes in! We refer to 350cc Austrian machines as “Baby Bear’s Porridge” – just right! Pat Lopez from OGIO Powersports recently purchased a 2024 Husqvarna FC 350 and we helped him make it into a Vet class weapon with a few simple modifications. First on the agenda was getting rid of the air fork so we turned to Race Tech for its tried and true $549 spring conversion kit that we have always been pleased with. To further complement the bike’s handling, we installed a FCP Racing engine mount kit that includes a titanium front mount bolt and billet aluminum engine hangers. The kit costs $449. The Austrian brands have never been known for exceptional wheel durability, so we installed a set of Dubya USA Edge Wheels, which are a bargain at $799 (use code SWAPMOTO for a 15% discount!). We have logged three seasons on a set and they remain true and free of flat spots. Bill’s Pipes produces one of the best-performing exhaust systems for the 350cc machines, and at $829.99 is a great deal. Twisted Development has a proprietary software program which allows them to hack into the stock ECU and reprogram the fuel maps. Jamie Ellis at TD is a master of mapping and can custom-tune the ECU for more power, where you want it, and his expertise in this instance cost $349. Though the Husky comes stock with Pro Taper handlebars, we installed a set of Pro Taper ACF bars in the SX Race bend for more comfort and durability. The ACF bar is a favorite at SML. Pat is a little guy, so we installed a Guts Racing complete seat that is 10mm lower than stock and equipped with an awesome ribbed grip cover. The complete seat costs $304.99 but covers alone are available for $69.99. We completed the look of the bike with an all-white bodywork kit from the Husqvarna accessories catalog (did you know that aftermarket plastic for the Austrian brands can only be obtained through the OEMs?) and a set of custom graphics from Backyard Design.
